Author C.J. Heigelmann
C.J. Heigelmann is an emerging multi-genre author of Contemporary and Historical Fiction. C.J. learned to negotiate the changing fabric of race relations within the United States while experiencing different nuances of racial interconnection and social class ideologies from California to Connecticut, the Deep South, and during military service in the United States Air Force. CJ combines these unique and diverse experiences with his knowledge of the humanities, an empathetic heart, and a belief in world peace, to enlighten a reader’s perspective on self, the human family, and the world in which we live. He is a member of the Authors Guild, the Historical Novel Society, and the South Carolina Writers Association. Crooked Fences won 2nd place in the 2020 New York City Big Book Awards in the category of Military Fiction.

What is the greatest lesson you’ve learned in 2020
2020 has taught me that the lack of empathy, compassion, and understanding between fellow citizens of the United States of America is profound, epidemic, and a shameful representation of the potential heights of human achievement, behavior, and conduct. Yet, the light of hope through love continues to shine bright in our quest for peace.
